2022 SOP Gala A Life-Changing Event
May 31 2022
A mega sum has been raised at the 2022 Serving Our People fundraising gala held on Saturday 28 May at The Star Casino, sponsored by Kollosche.
More than half a million dollars has been raised in one night to support those in need across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
The evening brought together local businesses across several industries, entertainment personalities, SOP volunteers, and more than 50 Kollosche colleagues for a common goal.
Kollosche is the major sponsor for the annual black-tie ball where a MET gala theme played out across dazzling performances, exotic headpieces and sparkly attire.
A total of $637,000 was raised from the event, including ticket sales, sponsorship, pledges, a raffle and an auction conducted on the evening.
Speaking on the evening, Kollosche Managing Director Michael Kollosche acknowledged that while the past 12 months have been good for many in real estate, not everyone has been so fortunate.
“Events can turn your life upside down and organisations like SOP can turn it back around,” says Michael.
“Helping those less fortunate makes your character shine.”
The universe aligned to reward the services of an SOP volunteer who was the lucky winner of the raffle main prize of an Q3 Audi valued at $65,000.
Funds raised will be used to expand SOP services, which deliver basic goods from meals to furniture to the community with the help of an SOP logistics and delivery app, a moving truck, and delivery vans.
Since its inception in March 2020, SOP has served more than 52,000 people and provided 25,000 meals to households in 16 locations in Brisbane, Logan, Gold Coast and over the border into Northern New South Wales.
“An act of kindness changes people’s lives,” says SOP Founder Yas Matoubly.
“Helping one person might not change the world, but it might change the world of one person.”
Kollosche supported the night as a major sponsor through its own Community Fund, which was established in late 2021 as a means for the business and its sales agents to give back to the local community by supporting charitable causes.
A percentage of every property sale goes into the Kollosche Community Fund with a fundraising goal of $500,000 for the 2021 calendar year.
During his address, Michael urged those in the crowd to contribute what they can afford and to consider forfeiting certain luxuries to donate that money to benefit others in need.
Michael challenged the audience to find three days this year to volunteer for SOP and contribute to the community that we all love so much.
