December 18 2023
The construction of boutique luxury tower Drift moves full steam ahead in Main Beach with the unveiling of an elite building team set to deliver the project.
GDI Group Director Dean Gallagher has handpicked a highly experienced line-up to spearhead a 20-month building program on the Hughes Avenue site.
“It’s a formidable team,” said Mr Gallagher, whose own 30-year portfolio covers a raft of residential and commercial projects in Queensland.
“We’ve chosen highly qualified people who we know can deliver Drift to a high standard and in a timely manner.”

GDI Group took steps to assemble its own construction management team after former Drift builder GCB Constructions went into voluntary administration in July.
Buyers have stood firm behind the project, with more than 65 percent of apartments now sold to a predominantly local contingent whose support has not been lost on the developer.
“In my 35 years in construction I’ve never not delivered a project,” said Mr Gallagher, who will also ultimately reside in Drift.
“The support and patience of our existing purchasers has been an integral part of this process – we wouldn’t be here without them.”
Drift is set to rise 31 levels 30 levels on a north-facing site at 16-18 Hughes Avenue, an easy stroll to the famed Tedder Avenue dining and shopping precinct and the soft sands of Main Beach.
The position promises outstanding view lines from Surfers Paradise to The Spit, over The Broadwater and the Pacific Ocean.
Kollosche sales agent Duncan McInnes, who is marketing Drift alongside Corey Gilmore, said 75 percent of Drift buyers were local, with many relocating from other Main Beach buildings.
“Local buyers understand the uniqueness of the rare north-facing site and the design, which turns its back on the prevailing southerly winds such that balconies are useable year-round,” he said.
“Buyers also appreciate the larger floorplans, the high level of specification, and the amenities at Drift, and they like the fact that it is a boutique building for residents only.”
An entire level is devoted to resident well-being and recreation with exclusive access to a heated pool and magnesium spa, a cold therapy pool, infrared sauna, and steam room.
Residents will also benefit from a fully equipped gymnasium, yoga centre and massage rooms. An outdoor barbecue area and lounge with fireplace are ideal for entertaining friends and family, while a full-time concierge further supports the Drift lifestyle.
One full floor apartment remains, as well as a stunning selection of north-east and north-west half floors residences, and the penthouse suite.
