Forging His Own Path

If ever there was an unconventional path to a career in real estate, Dino Machado has walked it.
After traversing the globe, the sales agent has landed at Kollosche where he is fast becoming an integral cog in its New Projects division.
Specialising in the sale of luxury off-the-plan apartments within prestige developments, Dino matches buyers with their dream properties and advises investors based on his expert knowledge of the market.
A solid sales background has equipped him with the skills to thrive in what is a demanding and high-pressure sector.
“I love the challenge of matching someone’s specific requirements to a specific property,” Dino says.
“With a background in technical sales I really thrive on the intricacies of each opportunity.
“Every day brings fresh challenges and new opportunities.
“The satisfaction of nailing a client’s brief, to the point where you form a trusting friendship is testament to a successful process.”
Dino’s multi-faceted understanding of human behavior likely stems from him growing up surrounded by a large extended family in Johannesburg, South Africa, which taught him how to handle different personalities – a key skillset for his role at Kollosche.
“You learn to understand that people look at the world differently and it taught me to be compassionate when I approach people,” he says.
Dino’s real estate career began in South Africa, where he followed in the footsteps of his parents; his father operated an estate agency and his mother worked in property development.
However, keen to see the world, he moved to London where he gained a role in asset management. It was the first in a succession of diverse career moves straddling, finance, geotechnical engineering, commodities trading and mining.
In the geotechnical field, Dino’s role of directly assisting developers with analysing and assessing appropriate construction designs for projects, gave him a keen insight into development at the ground level.
This honed ability to identify strong opportunities, combined with a proactive approach to customer service and what Dino calls his “different approach to selling” is proving highly successful within his current sales role.
“I consider myself a modern breed of salesperson,” he says. “My approach is consultative. You tell me what you need and I’ll help you find it. If it’s not available, I’ll work to make it happen.”
It’s the ideal approach for new projects clients, who often seek reassurance and guidance as they navigate what can be complex decisions and transactions.
“Clients like to know they are dealing with someone who is reliable. That’s what I hope to be – someone they can trust in helping them on their property journey,” Dino says.

With a shortage of accommodation on the Gold Coast, both off-the-plan dwellings and pre-existing, Dino hopes to be instrumental in improving the levels of supply and fulfilling the desires of buyers to live in what he believes is one of the greatest cities in the world.
