Local businesses and community members turned out in force for the annual Kollosche People’s Lunch in support of the Gold Coast charity Serving Our People.

Held at The Star Casino, more than 500 people attended the annual fundraiser and auction event last week. In a true display of generosity and community spirit, $404,000 was raised, exceeding last year’s total of $341,063.

Hosted by Sea FM radio presenter Bronte Langbroek and comedian and TV presenter Mel Buttle, guests were treated to an afternoon of live auctions, entertainment and guest speakers, including Olympic swim coach Dean Boxall, athlete Elijah Winnington and Queensland Rugby Union CEO Ben Ikin.

Bringing poignancy and perspective to the afternoon’s entertainment was a series of heartfelt stories shared by individuals whose lives have been touched by SOP.

Kollosche Managing Director Michael Kollosche said the stories were a rousing reminder of what could be achieved when people with a common purpose came together.

“As rising costs put many Gold Coast residents under immense financial strain, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas, we are proud to support Serving Our People and are grateful for their essential work with our community’s most vulnerable,” Michael says.

“Kollosche is proud to support the initiatives of SOP through its People’s Lunch and annual Kollosche People’s Ball, which raised a further $1,040,000 earlier this year.

“This support enables SOP to continue its essential work and expand its services, ensuring that more families receive the assistance they need to overcome challenges and rebuild their lives.

“Kollosche extends a sincere thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this year’s lunch.

“Your collective support not only empowers SOP but also strengthens the bonds that make our community resilient. Together, we can help build a brighter future for all.”

In the past 12 months, Kollosche has redistributed more than $3 million within the wider community, which it has achieved through donations and fundraising, including those raised through its own Community Fund,.
