New property price growth research has ranked the Gold Coast alongside its global peers as recent high-profile sales boost international interest in the city’s blue-ribbon market.
Gold Coast Ranks on Global Property Stage

The Gold Coast is fast gaining traction on the global stage, with international buyers recognising the value of the city’s luxury property market.

Knight Frank’s 2023 Q3 Prime Global Cities Index, which tracks the annual price performance of key global luxury residential markets, revealed the Gold Coast to be among the world’s top performers, with 3.9 per cent growth.

It was one of five Australian locations to rank in the 46-strong global list, alongside Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, and was the only non-capital city to feature.

The Gold Coast’s world-class infrastructure, favourable climate and relaxed coastal lifestyle are leading more national and international buyers to view the city as a prime place to invest.

With the supply of premium luxury properties currently failing to meet the rise in demand, prices are being pushed to new heights, particularly in the most internationally recognised suburbs.

According to PropTrack data, Surfers Paradise recently surpassed Mermaid Beach as the city’s most expensive suburb, with the median price reaching $2,800,000 compared to $2,600,000 for Mermaid Beach.

Contributing to this shift in rank was Kollosche’s $24,000,000 sale of a landmark Main River estate at 59 The Corso in the elite Surfers Paradise precinct of Isle of Capri. The price was the highest achieved under the hammer in Queensland at the time of sale.

Yet the appeal of the Gold Coast stretches far beyond these central suburbs, with quality homes in other key locations attracting premium prices. A lavish waterfront estate at 5 McMillan Court in the elite TSS precinct of Southport broke records when it sold at auction for $24,800,000.

High-profile sales have prompted a spike in enquiries from international buyers on the hunt for a luxury Gold Coast home. Kollosche principal Michael Kollosche is taking expressions of interest on an authentic Hamptons-style waterfront mansion at 9 McMillan Court in Southport.

A two-storey Mediterranean-influenced residence at 28 Naranga Avenue is attracting attention in Broadbeach Waters. Marketing agents John and Nicole Mayer welcomed 28 groups through the doors during last weekend’s first open home, ahead of the 10 December auction.
