Meet James Roberts

How long have you been at Kollosche?
I have been at Kollosche for two years.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love meeting new people, understanding their real estate needs and forming long term relationships as they move through their property journey.

What did you do prior to joining Kollosche?
For many years I was a part of the Australian Dolphins Swim Team and have competed in two Olympic Games – London in 2012 and Rio in 2016, where I won a Bronze medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay. I also competed in the 2018 Commonwealth Games held here on the Gold Coast, taking out a Gold medal in the same event. I made it to three World Championships, in 2011, 2013 and 2017, taking home a Gold and Silver medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay at the 2011 meet.

Outline one thing people may not know about you?
I was afraid of the water until I was about 10 years old. To overcome my fear, my parents encouraged me to get involved in Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club and become comfortable around the water. I never looked back.

What do you consider your biggest professional achievement?
Winning a Bronze medal at the Rio Olympics. Being able to stand on that podium for my country was an indescribable feeling and an immeasurable highlight in my swimming career.

What is your biggest personal achievement?
Overcoming two consecutive shoulder reconstructions, in 2014 and 2015, to be able to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Team. I never knew if I would compete professionally in swimming again after the surgeries, so to get through that and go on to win Bronze in Rio was a massive achievement for me personally.

If you had the chance to do any job in the world, what would it be and why?
I love sport so if I could have it my way, I would be a professional golfer. I try to play as often as I can, but I’m no professional.

Outline your ultimate day out on the Gold Coast?
I wake up every day at 5.15am and go for a walk along the beach. I love morning oceans swims, surfing and golf. A morning coffee is a must. My local favourites are Canvas Espresso or BSKT in Miami. To unwind, I immerse myself in hot and cold water therapy to recharge the batteries.
