Kollosche’s Most Memorable Sales: 2019-2023
January 6 2024
Kollosche’s leading agents recall the story behind their most significant sale and why it remains unforgettable.
Sold $24,000,000 in July 2023
Sam Guo and Julia Kuo: “Selling 59 The Corso for a Queensland auction record was a momentous achievement for us. At $24,000,000, not only was it the highest sale in the state for the year, but it also broke the auction record. Aside from this, the owners were living overseas and the property needed a lot of maintenance done before we could bring it to market. The whole team contributed and so to achieve such a rewarding result, the biggest of our careers so far, is why it will always remain significant to us.”
41 ROYAL ALBERT CRESCENT, SOVEREIGN ISLANDS
Sold $8,7000,000 in February 2022
William Sarti: “This house had been on the market for more than a year when I took over the listing. I already knew the owner as we are both Italian, and he had previously invited me to watch Italy play England in the Euro 2020 UEFA cup final in his amazing cinema room and bar. Italy won, so you can imagine the celebration. Little did I know I would end up selling his amazing home less than two years later. I don’t usually operate in Sovereign Islands, but I took the listing on as a favour to the owner. It sold within weeks for more than $1,000,000 above the owner’s expectation, so it was not only a memorable sale, but highly successful too.”
10-12 ELANORA DRIVE, BURLEIGH HEADS
Sold $9,700,000 in October 2022
Troy Dowker: “Set on a double block on a sheltered waterway with its own ecosystem, this property was unlike anything else on the Gold Coast. The position of the property and its architectural integrity was so extremely unique that I was genuinely blown away when I first walked in. The marketing campaign drummed up huge interest and the auction was fiercely contested, with three active bidders pushing the price well over $9,000,000. The buyers were previous clients of mine who had purchased through me years earlier, so there was something special in the air that day. The property and its sale will forever be etched in my memory.”
1/3511 MAIN BEACH PARADE, MAIN BEACH
Sold $5,000,000 in July 2019
Duncan Longmore: “Ocean Isles has always been a special building to me. Located on a large beachfront holding in Main Beach, it has just five apartments. Throughout the years I have been involved in the sale of three of them, twice over. This particular apartment was owned by the late flamboyant entrepreneur Keith Lloyd, who renovated it in a lavish Baroque style. It had been unsuccessfully marketed by a few different agents before Kollosche took over the listing. We went on to sell it within two weeks. In 2020, we resold it for $6,520,000.”
167 OLD BURLEIGH ROAD, BROADBEACH
SOLD $45,001,680 in September 2022
Adam and Tony Grbcic: “The Voyager resort is an iconic 1980s timeshare building located on a prime beachfront development site with uninterrupted views. The sale was memorable because it marked the culmination of over four years of work by our team, dealing with many owners within the building and its body corporate. When we were finally able to bring it to market, it attracted 164 enquiries and 37 offers throughout two closing rounds, before achieving an aspirational price exceeding $45 million. It was one of the most complicated amalgamations we have ever had to bring together and for that reason, it will remain one of our most satisfying and rewarding sales.”
144 TALLEBUDGERA DRIVE, PALM BEACH
Sold $5,672,000 in February 2023
Rob Lamb: “This Hamptons-style home remains memorable for us because of its hugely successful marketing campaign. In the lead-up to the auction, the house was one of the most viewed properties in Queensland, attracting 237 enquiries and four written offers. We decided an auction campaign was the best strategy in the market at the time and to create further hype we called on the services of celebrity auctioneer Tom Panos, from ‘The Block’, to call the auction. It sold under the hammer for a price well beyond expectation.”
1 SHORT STREET, BURLEIGH HEADS
Sold $5,375,000 in November 2019
Michael Kollosche: “There were three beneficiaries to this sale, two brothers and their sister, and we were the eleventh agent they interviewed for the listing. It was the first time the property had come to market in 52 years, and I knew it required a special campaign. We received 179 enquiries, conducted 123 inspections, and received 19 offers ranging from $800,000 to $3,000,000. On auction day we had 25 registered bidders, with bidding starting at $1,000,000. It ended up selling for $5,375,000, considerably above the reserve. The look on the faces of the beneficiaries was unforgettable. You could see the money would be life-changing for some of them. Those kinds of results are immensely fulfilling and never fade.”
96 AMALFI DRIVE, ISLE OF CAPRI
Sold $2,100,000 in April 2022
Eddie Wardale: “This sale is memorable for me because it was my first under the Kollosche umbrella and took place on only my second day on the job. Collaboration with Michael and the wider team made the sale possible, with the approach being in stark contrast to my previous workplace, where we mostly worked in isolation. This sale affirmed to me that I had made the right choice in switching agencies to join the Kollosche team and as such it will stay with me always.”
