Mick Fanning Puts Gold Coast Beach House Up For Sale
March 17 2025

Three-time world surfing champion Mick Fanning has listed his Gold Coast estate, ‘Rolling Seas’, offering buyers the chance to secure a rare piece of absolute beachfront.
Fanning, who grew up in Coolangatta and built his career on some of the world’s most formidable waves, purchased the Bilinga site in 2011 when it was home to a handful of old beach shacks. Recognising the potential of its prime location, in 2014 he transformed it into a rustic Hamptons-inspired retreat designed for relaxed coastal living.
“As soon as I saw the view, I was instantly sold,” Mick says.
Set across a 1,030m2 double block with direct access to the sand, Rolling Seas captures the essence of beachfront living with a three-level main residence and a self-contained guest house. Reclaimed timbers, vintage English tapware and recycled French doors inject warmth and character into the home, while expansive decks and ocean-facing living spaces take full advantage of the breathtaking views.
“Sometimes you walk into a house and feel like you can’t touch anything,” Micks says. “I wanted people to walk in and feel at home, especially when you get up the steps and see that view.”
Kollosche agent Troy Dowker, who is leading the auction campaign, says beachfront estates of this scale and calibre are few along Australia’s east coast.
“There’s nothing else like it,” says Troy. “From Palm Beach south, you’d struggle to count a handful of comparable trophy homes like this. The landholding, the frontage, and the dual dwelling setup make it incredibly unique, not just on the Gold Coast but along the entire eastern seaboard.”
Fanning lived in the home before converting it into a high-end holiday rental styled by Sydney-based Three Birds Renovations, attracting visitors eager to experience the ultimate beachfront lifestyle. The asset is now surplus to his needs and he’s ready to divest.
“The people that have come and stayed have been really positive,” he said. “Everyone from friends to clients says the same thing – it’s been so refreshing and so relaxing.”
“Bilinga has always had this laidback charm, but it’s no longer just a sleepy beachside strip. It’s a place where families are returning after holidaying here as kids, and empty nesters are drawn to the peaceful lifestyle while still being close to everything,” he said.
With limited absolute beachfront land available, Troy believes Rolling Seas is not only a spectacular home but also an exceptional long-term investment.
“A property like this isn’t just about lifestyle – it’s a significant landholding in a tightly held beachfront market,” he says. “Whoever buys it will not only enjoy an incredible home but will also be securing a blue-chip asset for the future.”
Rolling Seas, located at 291 Golden Four Drive in Bilinga, is expected to draw significant interest when it goes to private auction on-site on 24 April.
