Kollosche New Projects has achieved a new price benchmark in Main Beach with the sale of a full floor apartment off the plan for a record sum.

A full-floor apartment inside the exclusive Drift Residences has set a new price benchmark for Main Beach, selling off the plan for $11,995,000.

Excluding penthouse sales, it marks the highest price ever achieved for a full-floor apartment purchased off the plan in Main Beach, reinforcing the strong demand for high-end residences in the sought-after beachside suburb.

The 532sqm residence, located on Level 27, features four bedrooms, a media room, a study, and two expansive north-facing balconies. Premium finishes include three-metre ceilings in the main living areas, Gaggenau appliances, and four car spaces.

Drift developer Dean Gallagher of GDI Group said the sale was a testament to the project’s appeal among high-end owner-occupiers.

“Drift has set a new standard for Main Beach, and this sale affirms the strong confidence in the project’s quality and design,” says Dean. “Buyers in this market are looking for large-scale apartments that offer privacy, security, and premium finishes.”

The property was snapped up by a Gold Coast buyer, reinforcing strong local appetite for the Hughes Avenue project. Kollosche sales agent Duncan McInnes said demand has been driven by downsizers moving from houses into high-end apartments with resort-style amenities.

“Two-thirds of Drift buyers are coming from houses, drawn by the security, space, and lifestyle the building offers,” says Duncan.

“This sale reflects the appetite for full-floor residences, and we expect their value to continue rising.”

There is now a limited selection of high-end residences remaining for those looking to secure a place in the development as it nears completion.

There are three half-floor apartments available, located on Levels 17-22, each offering spectacular views and premium finishes, with prices starting from $4,695,000. The two-level penthouse, released to the market in January, spans an impressive 1,034sqm and features five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and five car spaces, with a rooftop terrace boasting a pool, spa, fire pit, sauna, gym and outdoor kitchen. Full spectrum views take in the Pacific Ocean, The Broadwater, Main River, the city skyline, and the Gold Coast Hinterland. The price is on upon application.

Drift remains on track for completion in September 2025, with rapid construction progress. The Level 16 slab was poured last week, marking another key milestone. Inside the building, kitchens and flooring installations are underway on Level 3, while bathrooms have been completed up to Level 5. Meanwhile, the exterior façade is beginning to take shape, giving a clearer picture of the building’s final form.

Progress on Drift gained momentum after GDI Group took control of the build, forming GDI Constructions to oversee the project’s completion. The move followed the collapse of original builder GCB Constructions, which entered voluntary administration in July 2023.

Developer Dean Gallagher said buyers would soon get a first-hand look at the resort-style amenities designed to complement Drift’s luxury lifestyle, including a wellness centre with a sauna, steam room, ice baths, and spa, as well as a recreation level featuring a pool, alfresco dining spaces, and landscaped lounging areas.

“We’re planning to complete the Level 2 recreation space ahead of settlements, so buyers will have the opportunity to preview the wellness amenities before they move in,” Dean says.

“Managing the build internally has allowed us to make adjustments along the way to ensure Drift delivers the level of quality we envisioned from the start.”

The Drift display suite, located at 18 Tedder Avenue, Main Beach, is open seven days, from 10am to 4pm.
