The Lakehouse Sale Sets a New Benchmark

A Gold Coast new build inspired by the glamorous grandeur of Los Angeles mega mansions has been snatched from the market for a landmark sum well ahead of auction.

An offer of $6,335,000 was enough to blow the competition out of the water for the designer residence at 150 Sir Bruce Boulevard, smashing the suburb record for Benowa in the process.

Sellers Martin and Dina Kenins, who operate as Kenins Developments, are behind the ultra modern two-level design known as The Lakehouse, which was launched to market on 4 April.

Kollosche lead agent Jamie Harrison, who led the national multi-media marketing campaign, said the award-winning residence attracted a strong pool of qualified buyers and multiple offers.

The ultimate Brisbane buyer first spotted the standout listing in an email to Kollosche’s exclusive database and later on a Channel 9 news before attending the VIP open night.

“Our strategy for a home of this calibre was to present the property to the right buyers, rather than wait for the buyers to come to us,” said Mr Harrison.

“We had 15 qualified groups through the first private inspection and they were all blown away by the architecture, the standard of the craftsmanship and the location overlooking the lake.”

The Kenins engaged Reece Keil Design to cement their vision for an ultra modern yet functional residence that combines the glamour of Bel-Air’s mega mansions with the raw beauty of natural materials and sleek lines found in South American Brutalist architecture.

The Lakehouse, which won a string of prestigious construction and design awards, was scheduled for auction on 29 April.

The mega sale trumps the $4,875,000 achieved last December for a Main River mansion at 151 Sir Bruce Small Boulevard, which was sold by Kollosche’s Sam Guo and Julia Kuo.

The sale price also establishes a new benchmark for any residence fronting the private lake that is bordered by Sir Bruce Small Boulevard, Edinburgh Road and Annies Court.

The Gold Coast’s prestige property market continues to defy signs of a slowdown with speedy seven-figure sales for premium real estate in key locations.

The Xanadu penthouse, at 150/59 Pacific Street, Main Beach sold in less than two weeks for $7,000,000 in a deal sealed by Duncan Longmore and Michael Kollosche on 14 April.

A modern two-level Miami penthouse located opposite the sand and surf at 4/142 Marine Parade fetched $8,125,000 under the hammer on 31 March through Eoghan Murphy and Michael Kollosche.

That result set a new record for the popular beachfront strip and represents a major windfall for the vendor, who gained $2,375,000 in the 17 months since they purchased in October 2020 for $5,750,000.

“People are willing to pay top dollar for A-grade assets,” said Mr Harrison.

“As the market starts to level out, B and C grade stock will be hit harder, but there’s a shortage of A-grade homes between $5 million and $10 million.”

“There is a depth of premium buyers for quality homes in the right pockets.”
