Unique Gold Coast Residence a True Surprise Package
December 21 2022
A one-of-a-kind waterfront property on the central Gold Coast featuring a priceless collection of ancient artefacts and original artworks is set to go to auction in the new year.
Inspired by the global travels of owner and entrepreneur Austin Watson, the Southeast Asian-inspired oasis is unlike anything to be found on the Gold Coast.
The newly-renovated Benowa Waters house showcases 67 antique artefacts, 22 original artworks, and motor racing memorabilia collected from across the globe – all of which are being offered for sale when the property goes to auction on 27 January.
Austin worked with award-winning Gold Coast designer Reece Keil to realise his vision for a resort-style residence where art, culture, and creature comforts combine.
“The house is named ‘Alila’, which means surprise in Sanskrit, and when you step inside the front gate you don’t expect to find this in Benowa Waters,” says Austin.
An open-air magnesium lap pool sits at the centre of the home which also features a wine-tasting room with Saki bar, a large cinema room, six sumptuous bedrooms, five bathrooms, a decadent Miele kitchen, and a steam-sauna room.
Decadent flooring features fossil-infused limestone and laser-ground pebbles, while hand-laid stone, Kwila timber and Surian Cedar line walls and ceilings.
Alfresco entertaining reminiscent of a six-star Balinese resort unfolds outside, with intricate gazebo structures and sundecks surrounding a deep-water pool with a swim-up champagne bar, large screen TV and a teppanyaki BBQ kitchen.
The property, located on a prime 1,000m2 parcel fronting Main River at 64 Cabana Boulevard, is being marketed by Kollosche sales agents Daniel Sharp and Brad Coyne alongside managing director Michael Kollosche.
Daniel said the home’s unique style, detail and standard of finishes placed the property in a league of its own.
“This home is unique and priceless to the point that you could not source the materials nor gain approval to build it again in this location,” says Daniel.
Benowa Waters has emerged as a serious player in the prestige property arena this past year when Kollosche sold designer new build ‘The Lakehouse’ on Sir Bruce Small Boulevard for $6,335,000 ahead of the scheduled auction.
